Griswold #8 MARKED Glass Dutch Oven Lid/Cover 10 RARE, p/n J-1805 Cast Iron/Alum

  

Griswold glass lid, fits a #8 Dutch oven of any era. Also fits Wagner Dutches, and cast iron or aluminum of either (Meant to fit a standard 10 1/8 Dutch oven). The actual pre-merger with the Griswold rings is what's rare in this one. Octagon shape knob with "GRISWOLD" block logo on cross in center, marked with pattern number J-1805 on rim.

Contracted through Corningware, made of Pyrex glass. Cover appears to have had a small double chip that's been smoothed out, or original factory void, it's difficult to tell.

It is completely smooth to the touch, no drag, not sharp or jagged and incredibly tiny. Is otherwise immaculate, not a single crack, flaw or blemish. No streaking, cloudiness or hard water stains.

It wouldn't surprise me to learn this had never been used. Also, it won't rust like a cast iron lid! Last picture is just an EXAMPLE, sitting. Griswold Dutch oven to show the fit.

It's listed a little higher than an almost identical listing we have up at the same time, another Griswold marked glass lid. That one has the Wagner style scalloped basters, which clearly indicates it was made after the absorption of Griswold into the Randall/Textron corporation, and logically leads to the conclusion that this J-1805 was made earlier during the actual Griswold years!
